What is Workmen’s Compensation insurance?
It is a policy which covers your statutory liability as an employer, to insure all your employees.
It protects you from any cost and compensation to an employee for personal injuries sustained by
- Accidents
- Occupational diseases
It covers both medical and legal costs which arise in the course of employment under
- The Workmen’s Compensation Act 1952
- Subsequent amendments to the Act
- Common Law
In addition, the policy may pay for all costs and expenses incurred with our written consent in defending any claim for such compensation.

This applies to an employee’s personal injury, sustained by accident or occupational diseases in the course of his employment under:
- Workmen’s Compensation Act 1952 and the subsequent amendments to the Act
- Common Law

What we don’t cover
- Liability assumed by agreement
- Any employee who is not a ‘workman’ within the meaning of the Workmen’s Compensation Law(s)
- War, civil war and any act of terrorism
- Radioactive and nuclear energy risks
- Claims arising from ‘Latex Protein Toxic Syndrome’ and Asbestos
